Makes me wonder if it’s ALWAYS this way, and the folks in DC know it. (With the exception of Trump, which could be why they hate him so).
Watch the great 1939 movie "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington." It shows how DC corruption worked even 83 years ago. It isn't much different today although methods and means have changed due to modern technology. The movie, of course, ended with the good guys winning, but in reality the Jefferson Smiths of the world rarely win. If they do, they are either corrupted or destroyed.

And the original question remains, why does the GOP not seem to care??
