Maybe he wanted some intel on how these creeps think, so he could do the opposite.

I think folks need to calm down over this. Should he NOT have met with these interest groups? The optics would be very bad. He has to give them a hearing. These people are not his moderation board. They are however, influence and opinion shapers. To shut them out entirely would be destructive to his mission. Let’s all wait until he forms his content moderation board. I submit again the names I’d like to see on it:

Jordan Peterson
Joe Rogan
Tim Pool
Bill Maher

Of course not all these people are conservatives. You’re not going to get a moderation board full of conservatives. But they ARE all free speech advocates with differing places on the political spectrum. I don’t expect the board to only be 4 people either. And some of the people on the board are by necessity going to be people you and I don’t like. That’s kinda the point of free speech.

Actions speak louder than words.

Quit your pearl clutching and give it a week or two to see what actions he takes.

Agreed, as distasteful as it first seems.

Also, I think Musk wants to create the impression he is soliciting input from all sides in maintaining a responsible Twitter. It’s a way to protect himself against the coming attacks.

And before this he even thanked AOC for her advice.

Huckaby
Candace Owens
Ted Cruz
Reps from Organizations that promote free speech.
Maybe a constitutional scholar like Dershowitz.

They need to publish the criteria, and they need a feed back channel.

Musk is a center left guy at best. He’s not one of us so we should not expect too much.

I see no issue with him agreeing to meet with them, listening to their issues, and then doing exactly what he spent billions to do, make Twitter a free speech platform.

As long as he is just taking these creeps’ recommendations on advisement, and doesn’t actually act on them, it might be okay.

As a site operator, Musk has the problem of removing posts that would promote violence or would besmirch his viewers.

I will point out that the harmful effects of government and corporate policies on individuals and their groups can become very obvious and no effort at censorship can hide the wrongs done.

The wool could never be pulled over the eyes of the founders of the NAACP or MLK Jr.

The effect of reality can not be hidden, and it remains in the mind: The task is to make things better without creating hurt for others. Truly free market capitalism does this best.

Correct, and he has never pretended otherwise. We are content at this point just to have a fair forum, and that requires owners who have not bought into irrationality.
