Russia Firing Commanders to Deflect Blame From Leadership: says U.K.
MSN-Newsweek ^ | 11-6 | Khaleda Rahman

According to British defense officials.

Latest intelligence update from the U.K.'s Ministry of Defense (MOD) noted that Colonel General Alexander Lapin had reportedly been fired from his role as commander of Russia's Central Military District in late October.

Major General Alexander Linkov was reportedly appointed acting commander on Thursday, the ministry said in the update on Sunday.

It said that Lapin had been "widely criticized for poor performance on the battlefield" by Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov and Putin ally Yevgeny Prigozhin, the founder of the notorious Wagner Group, a mercenary outfit fighting on Russia's side in Ukraine. Both blamed Lapin for the loss of Lyman, a key supply hub in eastern Ukraine.

Vlad Mykhnenko, an expert in the post-communist transformation of Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union at the University of Oxford, told Newsweek that "this is fast becoming a pattern" with each major Russian army failure on the front line,.

He said: "Either a humiliating retreat or a devastatingly costly attack causes an uproar on social media, followed by the state-controlled TV propaganda, with the supporters of the Russian invasion... screaming for blood of the offending general and, increasingly, the Ministry of Defence and the General Staff."

The same cycle is repeating itself after Russia's failure to capture Pavlivka, a village in the Donetsk region, Mykhnenko said.

"The Russians lost many hundreds of troops and a lot of armor, but failed to achieve any of the attack's objectives," he said. "As the news from Pavlivka began to emerge, the pro-war social media channels, including Prigozhin and Kadyrov's internet bots, started a new campaign calling for severe punishments to be dished out against the responsible generals in the Ministry of Defence and the General Staff. I would not be surprised to see another proverbial head to roll in Moscow."

Putin will never accept any blame. Which is good in a way. This gives him a warped perspective on the war, which leads to stupid decision making.

I figure they best way these warmongering wackos can further their cause (whatever the hell it is, I don’t think they even know) is to go out Tuesday and pull the lever for the blue team. Straight ticket.

Defense Politics Asia had a video a couple of days ago of a Ukrainian infantryman surrounded at Yehorivka, who said Pavlivka had been liberated by the Russians.

I guess this Newsweak tool Khaleda Rahman is a little behind the times...

Maybe they'll go back to making their commanders work side by side with their soldiers to have "some skin in the game" so to speak.

Russia lost some 490 troops, 7 tanks, 5 artillery pieces on Nov 5 – Ukraine’s General Staff

Battalion of Russian conscripts destroyed in Luhansk Oblast, hundreds killed
SATURDAY, 5 NOVEMBER 2022, 21:45
https://www.pravda.com.ua/eng/news/2022/11/5/7375139/

A battalion of Russian conscripts from Voronezh Oblast (Russia) was destroyed near the village of Makiyivka, Svatove district, Luhansk Oblast by a Ukrainian strike; hundreds of Russian occupiers were killed.

Source: Russian news outlet Verstka, citing the surviving Russian soldier and relatives of the conscripts

Details: One of the survivors, Russian serviceman Aleksey Agafonov, told Verstka about the losses among the conscripts as a result of a Ukrainian attack on the contact line near Makiivka in Luhansk Oblast. According to the soldier, the number of occupiers killed may exceed 500.

According to Agafonov, the commander of the battalion of conscripts, who were trained in military unit 2079, had promised that the soldiers would be brought to Svatove, where they would join the “territorial defence” 15 kilometres away from the front line. However, on the night of 2 November, the entire battalion was taken to the contact line and ordered to entrench and hold the line of defence.

Quote from Agafonov: “We were dumped into the forest and ordered to entrench; we had only three shovels for the battalion, and there was no support at all. We entrenched as best we could, and in the morning the [Ukrainian] attack started. [Ukrainian forces used] artillery, Grad MLRS, mortars and copters; we were just shot.

When it all started, the officers immediately ran away. In between the attacks, we tried to entrench, but the copters immediately spotted us and just shot us. Out of 570 people, 29 managed to survive, 12 more were wounded, and the rest are all dead”.

It’s only a matter of time. Europe is going to bail out on this thing. They are getting economically destroyed along with former-Ukraine getting militarily and economically destroyed in the wake of American interests.

Russia Firing Commanders to Deflect Blame From Leadership: says U.K.

Russian priest Mikhail Vasilyev, who had suggested to Russian mothers to give birth to more children so they would not be afraid to send their adult sons to #Russia's war against #Ukraine, was just killed in Ukraine.

Meanwhile, the ethnic Russian provinces are now officially a part of the Russian Federation, Ukie currency, production, exports are destroyed, their “ country” sits in darkness ( 45 percent), and they are on their 8th national mobilization.

Doesn’t sound like winning.

OMG!

Do you mean to tell me that the Ruskies have not totally collapsed after all of the devastations to them and their leaders since this all started?.

-Putin has cancer and will die at any moment
-Zelensky and his crew of clowns are killing a Russian general a week (maybe even a day)
-The Russians are out of missiles (tell that to all the folks in Ukraine w/o electricity)
-The Russians are retreating from Kherson
-The Russians are losing this conflict

And now we find that Russia is firing commanders (heaven forbid).

Now that's a real game changer -- NOT!

Oh gee, the Vlad Mykhnenko quoted in this propaganda piece, is the same Ukrainian gloating that villagers near his parents hideaway hunted down and shot surviving Russian troops from a downed transport plane. I’m sure he is a completely reliable source of information /s https://www.ox.ac.uk/news-and-events/oxford-people/Vlad-Mykhnenko

Is it possible to assume there is a FR consensus on Hillsdale College? If yes, do we as a conservative community generally lean towards Imprimus's stance on the issues?

Pavlivka does not seem to have turned out well for the invaders, have you bothered to look at a lot of sources?

Five of the paratroopers were defeated and killed after they parachuted into enemy territory but what does that have to do with this expert’s input on the subject of the article?
