The price has almost doubled on that in two years and the cans keep getting smaller. Also can be hard find. These people have no clue.

When I was kid, we rarely ate stuff like that. Mom cooked almost everything from scratch. Lol, I probably wanted to try Dinty Moore or chefboyardee. I was even jealous of kids that had canned fruits at lunch. None of that for me. To think that back in those days, that stuff was more expensive than mom giving me leftovers from meals. She could make the best chicken sandwich on white bread you’ve ever had! And it was always from the dregs left from dinner the night before. To this day, my husband is surprised at what I can make from baked chicken. I learned from the best!

“Exactly. I cooked a package of spaghetti and a jar of Prego last night. Threw in some frozen meatballs. With two of us eating, there’s still enough left over for another meal, and then some. Cheap, cheap meals...and very easy.”
Ha! I did a big jar of Prego Mushroom sauce with a pound of sausage, two packs of angel hair. Will last me half the week.
I sometimes put a pack of Top Ramen in a can of tomato soup too. Would be even cheaper, but now the Top Ramen was over a dollar each as of yesterday.

I spent a year and a half stationed in Sicily where pasta is a way of life. I returned to America with a few extra pounds...and a love for the noodle.
Oh, my mom made all our meals, as well. But I was a paperboy; my mom wasn’t about to get up at 3:00 a.m. to fix me breakfast, so I went the Dinty Moore beef stew route.
Makes sense!
(Hubby was a paperboy, too, and he learned how make his own French toast as a youngster. He was the youngest of 5, and I guess his Mom was tired of doing things like that early in the day, so he learned how to make it from her. It’s still a family fave.)
