My kneejerk reaction is to reject Carvill straight out of hand.
But for the sake of argument, and perhaps a little introspection, what if he is right?
When I brought up how absolutely ludicrous it was to think that dopey Joe Biden got 81 million votes in 2020 with certain family members, their reaction was that Biden didn’t motivate people that much, Trump did. Their proposition was that as fervent as Trump fans are, the Trump haters are also strongly motivated.
So what if T.D.S. actually trickles down to races nationwide, even when Trump isn’t on any ballot?
Is that really possible?

All politics is local. Trump’s victory was *only* possible because of the grassroots work of the Tea Party in 2010 and onward.
The level of hate half this country has for Trump is greater than the level of fanatical adoration the other half seems to show.
For Trump, *everything* is about Trump. That works great when ascendant, and terrible when not.
Trump was on the ballot. His nonstop rallies from Memorial Day to Election day , his constant refrain about how the Presidency was stolen and needed to be restored, his choice of candidates to endorse, some like Oz and Walker because of their celebrity status and personal relationship with Trump. All these allowed the Dems to campaign nationwide on only two issues, Abortion and Trump. And Trump’s rhetoric allowed the Dems to make a four hour public disturbance into the new Fort Sumter. Now he’s all but demanding GOP biggies be on stzge with him at Mar a Largo next week. Maybe Oz, Walker, Masters,Lake should share the stage with him.

This has nothing to do with T.
This may have a lot to do with Trumps biggest achievement - the Shock overturning of Roe v Wade by the Supreme Court.
That energized a lot of democrat voters.
