Same on local levels. Decades ago Mrs. chiller was recruited by the D party to be ‘party chair’ which was very odd for someone without any deep party ties. When she inquired about job duties , they advised ‘fundraising’.

The Speaker can actually serve more like a Chairman of the Board, with COO/CEO duties falling on the Majority Leader.
Whoever is Speaker will have an incredibly difficult job of addressing multiple caucus factions and a narrow majority. I think the best outcome is just to have gridlock.
