It wouldn’t be a good move. I don’t think Kevin will make a bad speaker (although I cringe every time I hear him speak) because he’s not an easy target and Jim Jordan backs him. Kevin is a great fund raiser and that’s a primary function of his position.
Didn’t help win a majority. I don’t think they are to pull it out. If they do maybe by 5 seats and then McCarthy will do Dem lite moderate crap and lose it again in 2024
I don’t think it’s “a function” of the position as much as it is money = power and that’s how McCarthy and McConnell locked down these roles for so long. If THAT could be changed, somehow, that would bode well for not only this selection but all future selections. Unfortunately I’m not sure anyone knows how it could be done.
