Also, One of my uncles earned his Purple Heart by being wounded at Guadalcanal. He was a lot braver that John effing Kerry!
Another excellent choice, his biography is also incredible. I visited his grave while a Arlington a few years ago, very humbling experience. He was the real deal, including his MoH.
While Colonel Hackwork was never a MoH recipient, he does hold the record for the SS, receiving 10 in addition to 8 BS. Served in WWII, Korean and Vietnam wars.
I’ll go with Hackworth as number 1 and Murphy as #2.
