I’m glad your granddaughter did not get hit.

I’m also glad to hear that there is little recourse in this puke to be able to get out before they have to carry him out.

I’m of your mindset.
Somebody sentenced to death should have a judge review evidence given and procedures to ensure there were no judicial errors or misinterpretations of evidence.

If all is in the up and up, carry out the sentence right after the review.

Send him to the chair six consecutive times.

I think murderers should be executed using the same means they used, so in this case he should be tied to a pole and rammed with a vehicle. Preferably, it would take multiple hits to finish him off.

Was this a guy that was receiving money from you know who,
to do you know what?

I’d sure like the guy behind a lot of the things taking
place on the streets today, have to bear some of the
pain.

He will likely appeal. But this judge was great. She let him bitch and moan during the entire trial. She was incredibly patient. BUT……during sentencing today, she made a three hour speech. She purposely recalled the comments made yesterday and earlier today by witnesses and family who spoke of seeing loved ones run over by Brooks, of how they wake up in the middle of the night, reliving the event, of how mothers sat in Milwaukee Children’s Hospital, holding their child’s hand for five days in an ICU wondering whether they’d live and on and on. Then she gave brook the maximum sentence on all of the 76 charges for which he was found guilty. 6 were for murder, 62 for hitting people with his SUV and the rest for running from the scene and other bail issues. We have no death sentence in our state, but the sentencing judge can prevent any release …EVER……and Judge Dorow did just that in her sentencing decision.

I wouldn’t do it right after.

Couple weeks.

Then an appeal can be filed and reviewed, which mostly would be show, but also time to come to Jesus, possibly.

You have to do it sometime in the following two weeks, and not let them know until the day of. This way nothing can be planned to thwart it if they don’t know.

You have it set to do right after sentencing they will go crazy right there in the courtroom and so will families. You don’t want courtrooms turning into brawling areas, she or he has nothing to lose at that point. Not good.

“Wouldn’t surprise me one pit if president mashed potatoes pardons him in 3......2.......”

No. This is when useful idiots find out they’re expendable.

Even if he wanted to (and he wouldn’t, get real) he can’t. Presidents cannot pardon people convicted of state criminal offenses.

I do like her sentence. She convicted on each count consecutively, not concurrently. That means that any appeal must be done on each and every conviction separately.

Even if he does appeal, he has to successfully appeal 59 times if he ever wants to see the light of day again. 58 times successful and he will likely die in prison.

That was what the second judge was for. However, I suppose he still gets a chance to appeal, but it should be after the second judge so that the second judge’s evaluations can be taken into account for the appeal.

She did do a great job. Knew how high the stakes were and put up with more than any reasonable person should have to. Beats the hell out of showboating judges.

REGARDLESS what the law books say, I figure Darell Brooks will will be out before his 50th birthday. If he is still alive.

No death penalty there?

Correct. Haven't had it for as long as I can remember (about 50 years). They didn't have it when Jeffrey Dahmer was tried, but one of his fellow inmates delivered justice; with a broomstick, IIRC.

It's before my time, but I don't think they had it for Ed Gein back in the 50s, either.

I'd like to see the death penalty brought back here in Iowa. It should be easy, since the Repubs hold the house, senate and governorship, but I haven't hear one word about it.

It was also interesting that during her three hour sentencing statement, while she recounted some of the victim’s family’s statements, she broke down a bit. She’s human and certainly felt their pain.

He ran over and killed little kids and GRANDMAS!

I’d put a pullet in his head for free, though I have a feeling that he’ll be ‘Dahmerized’ in prison before too long.

Where’s Hillary! and her ‘Suicide Goon Squad’ when you need her?

So I guess that means he will be out and holding a cardboard sign in a few months. I wonder what idiots will give him money?
