Several top conservatives are warning that if House GOP leader Kevin McCarthy, the Republican nominee for Speaker of the House, does not win the speakership election on the floor of the House on Jan. 3, 2023, a “doomsday scenario” could emerge where Democrats undercut GOP power.
In such a scenario, concerns are rising that so-called moderate—or establishment Republicans—are willing to band together to make a deal with the Democrats to elect a moderate Republican as speaker with Democrat votes in exchange for a House rules change that hands the incoming Democrat minority significant power over how subpoenas can be issued.
Conservatives ranging from Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) to Congresswoman-elect Harriet Hageman–who defeated outgoing Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) in the primary in Wyoming–are urging everyone to get behind McCarthy or risk this possible fate where Democrats seize back some power from the minority.

Well, McCarthy won the GOP nomination to be speaker in the recent vote of GOP membership.
I know McCarthy is not as strong a leader as many would like, but if there’s any truth to this story , any other Republican speaker who might emerge from some sort of deal making would not be favorable either.

The Uniparty wants the Trump faction eliminated and sees McCarthy as the tool to do that. I have zero doubt if McCarthy is not chosen, the alternative will be even worse.
If you translate that as “we’re screwed either way”, you have it right.
Anyone who thinks this lot would ever put someone like Jim Jordan in as speaker is delusional.

“Fun” to think about, but the whole House (not just Republicans) has to vote for Speaker, who has to get a majority - how many DemonRats would vote for Trump? Zero. How many ‘Republicans’ would vote for Trump? A precious few. Trump is a non-starter.

As if McCarthy is anything but a moderate squish. It’s pretty obvious Brietbart has become a GOPe mouthpiece. That said, there is a danger that what they are warning about could happen. It’s a very slim majority and 2 of the impeachment traitors are still there. It may not matter because I think it’s even money McCarthy made a deal with the rats to get the majority and God only knows what’s in it.

The GOP is determined to become the Whig party of the 21st century. They blew the 22 election with a strategy of vote for us we are not Democrats. Now they put the same old do nothing retreads in and proclaim if they are not put it power it could be worse! Let it be worse. A destroyed economy and military, WWIII on the horizon and the Democrats still retain the senate and the GOP says it can be worse.
When you offer nothing but we are not that guy but we want to be, just on the cheap, you offer no reason for me to support of vote for you. And when you let Democrats clearly continue to steal state elections when you are in charge of the legislatures I have to believe you are pure idiots or tacitly support liberals being elected.
Reforming this uppity country clubber leftist party is a pipe dream. Let it get worse and lets get the disaster that is the GOP off the stage and into the ground and try and build a real political party.
