University of Pennsylvania scientists are closer to successfully creating a flu vaccine that could protect against 20 known flu strains, according to reports.
While the new vaccine still in the experimental stages wouldn’t be to replace the existing seasonal flu shots, researchers hope it will protect against any new strains that could potentially lead to future pandemics, Philly Voice reported.
The study’s senior author Scott Hensley is also a microbiology professor at Penn’s Perelman School of Medicine and has been working on the flue vaccine that’ll hopefully fight against multiple strains.
“The idea here is to have a vaccine that will give people a baseline level of immune memory to diverse flu strains, so that there will be far less disease and death when the next flu pandemic occurs,” Hensley said in the report.
In their animal studies, the vaccine decreased the risk of severe illness and death. It didn’t matter if the animals were exposed to strains that weren’t used to create the vaccine, Philly Voice also reported.
This vaccine focuses more on preventing or lowering the risks of hospitalization and death rather than immunity against multiple strains, the research team confirmed.
“It would be comparable to first-generation (COVID-19) mRNA vaccines, which were targeted to the original Wuhan strain of the coronavirus,” Hensley added in the study. “Against later variants such as omicron, these original vaccines did not fully block viral infections, but they continue to provide durable protection against severe disease and death.”

The “multivalent” vaccine, which the researchers describe in a paper published today in Science, uses the same messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA) technology employed in the Pfizer and Moderna SARS-CoV-2 vaccines. This mRNA technology that enabled those COVID-19 vaccines was pioneered at Penn. Tests in animal models showed that the vaccine dramatically reduced signs of illness and protected from death, even when the animals were exposed to flu strains different from those used in making the vaccine.
The mRNA platform has NOT been subjected to long-term clinical trials. The covid shots were granted EUA and weren't subject to proper clinical trials, to assess long-term risks. This is especially worrying because vaccines fail trials 59% of the time and take a median of 9 years.

vaccines are the holy grail of global totalitarian control. they must be resisted on that basis alone.
resist all vaccines unless you are completely informed about the vaccine, adjuvant, it’s biological action, it’s containment, it’s potential injurious side effects, and you know they are pre-1960 formularies which have been tested for 12+ years with <50 suspected deaths or serious injuries from the treatment from a source independent of the cdc/fda. i.e., say data from another country.

now, we have to ride them like a wild donkey until they break, or they break our necks, take our guns, and put us in the ovens.
You literally thousands of Flu variants out there, but now you will develop a vaccine that will protect you from 20 variants. How will you pick what 20 variants, how do know the Flu variants will not just mutate around the vaccine?
None of this will work and how dangerous will it really be?
As long as they test it for the next 10 years and we can see all the data fine.
