The legal battle over a Florida law that restricts classroom instruction on gender identity and sexual orientation is pitting red states against blue states.

Republican attorneys general of 14 states last week sought approval to file a brief supporting Florida in a fight about the new law. That came after Democratic attorneys general from 15 states and the District of Columbia this summer filed a brief supporting the bill’s challengers...

“Florida’s HB 1557 fits well within the collection of state laws that regulate primary education curriculum by imposing restraints on what teachers can say,” the attorneys general brief said. “Indeed, many states have laws that go a great deal further in regulating what teachers may (or must) say in the classroom.”

Exactly, this is a state right, not federal.

I don’t even have to look to know that “my” state (Washington) is on the wrong side of this issue.

“...is pitting red states against blue states.”

Not really. It is pitting red states against their education bureaucracies. EVERY state in the union has had a leftist-crazed education department for decades, so the red states have to do battle with them. And if they make laws against what they are doing, they will rename it and sneak it in again.

If I were the family, I’d take the money and run (relocate). The school is going to do everything it can to demonize the business, so it won’t be as profitable as it was before.

It’s a family decision of course, as whether to do that, or to set up a new business elsewhere. Also, the family patriarch is gone, which changes the dynamic.

Sad situation.

Isn’t it the mostly leftist federal education bureaucracy that forces teachers to teach common core, whole word, and other failed techniques? Either it is explicitly directed or implied in terms of who gets funding and how proficiency tests are constructed.

Apparently to Republican leaders, otherwise we might hear a something from them over this butchering of our kids.

If one cannot stand teaching children but have an education fetish they apply for state board of education positions. It attracts the people who are over educate in futility to work for the department of prisons, but the stuborness not to quit 3-6 years in when nothing got done.

Education is process like home construction, agree to a framework (electrical code for example), a design (plans) and let the experts pile up the supplies in the shape of finished building at the lowest cost that is acceptable to the customer. The permits and the financing are for the people who like to hurt themselves for a few coins. Saying everyone needs a red front door with 3 windows half way through the project, is just going to piss off the customer. Are their construction unions, certainly, but not a one of them makes demands for the plans.

What the hell does all that have to do with teaching elementary students to be queer or change their sex?

No ‘queer studies’ for Florida’s kids K through third grade? DeSantis is such a meanie.

Must be awful for the sexual weirdos and groomers not to have access to Florida’s kids until 4th grade.

And Disney? Disney should move to some democrat hellhole like Chicago.
