“If nations were people, Russia would be that weird neighbor who has a huge yard, but it’s full of junk because he never throws anything out.”

US just successfully tested and launched its first hypersonic missile.

Meanwhile, the Russians been using them in Ukraine.

Keep talking......

Hypersonic is formally defined as Mach 5 and above, or faster than five times the speed of sound, around 3,800 mph or 1700 metres per second.

The US has had hypersonic missiles for quite some time. All ICBMs and SLBMs are hypersonic missiles, travelling at speeds of many kilometres per second. But besides those, the US have had other hypersonic missiles for decades.

The Sprint missile was designed with a very rapid acceleration of around 100 g, giving it a top speed of 7,600 mph (3.4 km/s). (It would break Mach 1 at around 50 metres above its launch tube, after accelerating for about one-third of a second.)

Russia seems to have used a Kinzhal to strike at a Ukrainian supply and ammunition bunker in western Ukraine.

It was a test. They don’t have more as the Russians don’t have the chips to build more.
