President Joe Biden pledged Wednesday to move South Africa off coal, its main source of energy, toward green energy sources — despite the fact that the country lacks the power to keep its electricity on 24 hours per day.
Speaking to a gathering of African leaders in Washington, DC, Biden promised his administration’s joint efforts with Africa would include “$8 billion in public and private finance to help South Africa replace coal-fired power plants with renewable energy sources and develop cutting-edge energy solutions like clean hydrogen.”

In fairness to Biden, South Africa will no longer need power generation at all, nor will the rest of Africa, once everyone has moved to the U.S. This will not happen overnight, but given the speed with which Biden is ramping up immigration, the end of a second Biden term might be a reasonable working goal.
America has something called “victory disease”. We won WW II decisively. That win gave us the supposed right to lecture everyone about everything, everywhere.

I was ok with being king-of-the-hill during the Cold War as we had a real enemy who was doing the same, but after that, it was simply a bunch of sick people in our government that wanted revenge for their long-held grudges - like Victoria Neuland’s grandfather being kicked out of Ukraine 115 years ago, so now she has to start a war with Russia. Why the hell is it so hard for some to let go, and while she may not know it, she’s not ‘punishing’ those who kicked out her grandfather, since they’re long dead.
