A magnitude 3.6 earthquake centered in the East Bay rattled folks around the Bay Area early Saturday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The brief shaker hit at 3:39 a.m. PST with a depth of 3.6 miles (5.8 kms), just .6 miles northeast of the city of El Cerrito. The epicenter appeared to be in the Hillside Natural Area, an open space owned by the city of El Cerrito.
On the USGS Community Intensity Map, people reported feeling the quake throughout the region as far south as Fremont and north just beyond Vallejo.

A 5.2 earthquake on August 8, 1989 was a foreshock to the Loma Prieta quake of October 17. So this little bump could foreshadow a major disaster. Most likely not.

Exactly. I lived there decades ago and there were so many, I could usually tell a 3.6 from a 4.2, neither of which even raised an eyebrow in our house. When they got over 4.5, our two dogs and a cat begged me to STOP DOING THAT!!!

Several campers on the downtown retail area sidewalks reported that their tents shook and the extension cords pulled out of the sockets so they went without big screen TV, microwave ovens and rechargers for laptops and phones until they got reconnected.

Dogs and cats don’t like quakes.
Although the Chinese seemed to originate it, some countries watch for when horses refuse to go back to the barn and pigs and other animals squeal from pressure or discomfort apparently sensed from electromagnetic gas coming up from cracks in the earth’s crust-——followed by major quakes.
Maybe there is some hope for a washout
Hopefully some release of stored up pressure.
