The term ‘gaslighting’ has its origin from a 1938 play, Gas Light, and its adaptation by Patrick Hamilton, known in America as “Angel Street” which later developed into the film ‘Gas Light’ by Alfred Hitchcock.

There was a British feature film version, then, later, a U.S. feature film version. Can’t recall everyone who was involved in those two different productions.
