The question arises as to why the U.S. did not get involved in supporting the Ukrainians immediately after the Russian conquest of Crimea, while we did get involved with Libya and Syria. Was Hillary Clinton, more neocon friendly, leaving the Secretary of State position in anticipation of running for President and her replacement by John Kerry the reason? Or was it Obama possibly dealing with Russia on a different basis? Remember that he told a Russian official during his 2012 reelection campaign against McCain that he would be better able to deal with issues after the election. That comment was supposed to be private but was caught on a hot mic.

Seems to me that the ‘American Reluctance’ was EXACTLY the right policy, and many lives could have been saved if we stayed ‘reluctant’.
