“Was this a set-up?”
Setup by whom? It was just a vote for the Speakership - no one forced the Freedom Coalition to reject McCarthy. It appears they did it to get rules changes which they received.
This wasn’t a serious challenge or there would have been an alternative gaining more than a handful of votes.
If conservatives can’t get more than a handful of votes then they don’t deserve a different speaker. You got to have the votes.
‘Show me a man that gets rich by being a politician, and I’ll show you a crook.’ Harry S Truman!
Maybe, if we do not have a speaker for two years:
No debt limit increases
No money for the Ukes
No money for new and old illegals
No money for green new deal
Why should we care if the members of the 118th Congress can’t be sworn in:
No midnight spending deals and no secret deals with Biden’s Deep State Puppet Masters!
Members of the 118th Congress can’t be sworn in, the House can’t set rules to govern itself, and it can’t Why should we care if: No spending and no deals with Biden!
The House is in limbo until it elects a speaker.
Members of the 118th Congress can’t be sworn in, the House can’t set rules to govern itself, and it can’t consider legislation or create committee assignments.
That sounds like good news to many of us.
House Republicans have pledged to unleash a slew of investigations, including some targeting President Biden — all of which would be on pause until a speaker is elected.
What to watch: House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy’s speakership bid failed a fourth and fifth time on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, the California Republican said: “I don’t have a problem getting a record for the most votes for speaker.”
Flashback: It took two months — and 133 ballots — for the House to elect its speaker in 1856.
The last time the House has needed more than one ballot to confirm a speaker was 1923.

Ok. Solution : put your personal politics aside! RINOs.
Drain the Swamp! Starting with McCarthy, the BIGGEST ALLIGATOR in the swamp!
It’s a telling phrase, isn’t it? The premise is that the security of the United States depends on more of the swell job the establishment Republicans have been doing in checking the Biden administration’s outrages. How’s that again? Don’t rock the boat, these guys have our backs...and they’re for sale.
7the vote for McCarthy has already failed.
Names are in the D’s. Donalds has 7 votes.
The GOP assisting the Democrats destroying America can not get more “personal” for me. Better wake up fellas.
Is that before or after declaring them your enemies and terrorists?
MTG or Bobbit
The fix is in with this RINO...it’s why he isn’t standing down and still has support
Nancy’s gone but her money is still there. It’s the typical Liberal way. If they can’t sail the ship.... they will foul the rigging!
There are 435 members of the House, but only 434 votes have been cast for Speaker. Who is the missing vote? Democrat or Republican?
Meanwhile, amidst all this “good news,” the country becomes ungovernable. And in no succeeding election is any Republican elected to any Federal office in any state. More “good news”?
McCarthy is the problem, not the solution. Join the conservatives. Stop the RINOs.
So tell us what the difference is between a Republican and a Conservative.
Since everybody is so hot on labeling people it would be helpful to know just what criteria one should use when deciding who is what.
The republican committee leaders ought to pay attention to the fact that the American people don’t want McC anywhere near the speakers chair! My rep knows that he lost my future vote for voting for McCarthy!
Yes, they want the show to never end.
Welcome back my friends,
To the show that never ends,
Come inside! Come inside!

A DemocRAT Congressman from Virginia died after election day, making the seat vacant:

McCarthy (RINO-CA) has already told the 20 or so who are holding up his coronation good luck on your requests for committee assignments. He’s poisoned that well. Screw him!
