A knife sheath discovered next to one of the four Idaho students killed in November had DNA on it that matched DNA found on trash from the home of the criminology graduate student charged in the stabbings, investigators allege in court records released Thursday.
Additionally, a phone registered to that man, Bryan Kohberger, was near the victims’ home at least 12 times between June and the day of the killings, according to an affidavit of probable cause. One of the surviving housemates saw a man dressed in black and wearing a mask leaving the home around 4 a.m. that day, the document says.
The new details offer a glimpse into what authorities say happened on the night they allege that Kohberger, 28, stabbed the University of Idaho students in their sleep.
The killings shocked the college town of Moscow, Idaho, and prompted a seven-week search for a suspect that drew thousands of tips and involved Idaho State Police and the FBI. Kohberger’s arrest Friday at his parents’ home in northeast Pennsylvania, more than 2,000 miles from the killings, marked a major break in the case.
Kohberger told a Pennsylvania judge on Tuesday that he would not fight extradition to Idaho, where authorities plan to prosecute him on four counts of murder and a burglary charge. His public defender in Pennsylvania, Jason LaBar, previously said that Kohberger expects to be exonerated.

That’s weird. I always take my knife sheath with me when I leave a murder scene. /s
And don't forget the pissing cat that triggered the ring video that caught the Elantra!
Bryan Slow-burger didn't count on the Viking Kittehs!
Ding, ding, ding - we have a thread winnah!
So he’s smart enough to know they can track cell phones and link them to crime scenes, just not smart enough to realize that they would track his phone all the way to the scene and leaving from the scene, even if he turned it off when he was committing the crime itself.
Dunning-Kruger in full effect.
The presence of his DNA is a problem, but if his knife had been stolen, it might explain it. But all those cellphone pings before, during and apparently after the murders is really bad for the defense. He's not going to walk, in spite of the weird things that the surviving roommates did.
I would have loved to have seen the look on Slow-burger’s face when he realized he left the sheath at the scene.
Makes me think the traffic stops were on purpose to put eyes on him as he traveled to Pennsylvania. I feel sorry for that dad that had no clue. Also I read that the Pennsylvania authorities are looking into cold cases.

question for y’all:
why did the old man go all the way to idaho to ride back to PA with his son?
how did the dad get out to idaho?
couldn’t the kid drive all the way back to PA on his own?
personalized with his name burned into the leather, LOL
By claiming the two survivors were asleep through the ideal, it temporarily provides
1-safety for these two, because the perp thinks there were no eye witnesses
2-conceals the level of Intel LEOs have on him, relaxing him to make mistakes
My guess

ok makes sense
There is something missing here. So they found the DNA - how did they know where to look after that?
Also, someone said Flock Safety cameras were utilized. I dont know if that is actually true and if that school has that system set up.
He flew out from PA to Washington to help his son drive 2500 miles in the dead of winter for Christmas vacation.
Bryan was trying to get rid of the car and as far away from that area as he could. I’ll bet $100 they planned to sell it in PA
His father flew out there. It could just be for the two of them to keep one another company on a long drive, but it could be any reason.

could his parents have seen reports on the car in the news & reached out to their boy & said we’re flying dad out to help you get that car out of there?
I doubt he told them the truth. He probably manipulated dad to help him get the car back to PA to sell it.
Bryan could have flown round trip for far less than this cost not to mention he time involved from days and days of driving. He was going to ditch the car
It was actually the Elantra that pointed them in the right direction. It was caught on multiple video points before and after the crime. Once they had a probable hit on that with Slow-burger's campus vehicle registration from his school, they cross referenced his phone which pinged consistently with the car before and after the crime, except for the period it was shut off around the time of the crime.
DNA was then pulled surreptitiously from the Slow-burger trash can back in PA and matched with the sample found on the snap closure of the knife sheath.
Hard to imagine this suspect’s defense now.
Unless he claims he was set up...

yeah.
it could have been one of the criminals participating in his dissertation project??
he could have been documenting the actual perp's actions for his doctoral program?
maybe he loaned the perp the kabar?
maybe he was just the driver of the get away car???
Psychopaths generally are not as smart as they think they are.
I’m not surprised it ended up being some weird ass like this studying criminology
He clearly thinks he can get away with it
