The speaker of the House election appears headed for a tenth vote as Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) and his allies continue to huddle with the 20 holdouts in his party throughout Thursday's votes.
The same group of GOP lawmakers that have been voting against McCarthy since Tuesday are blocking his candidacy on the ninth ballot. The only changes to yesterday's votes compared to the most recent round come from McCarthy foes Lauren Boebert (R-CO), Josh Brecheen (R-OK), and Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), who voted for Rep. Kevin Hern (R-OK).
Gaetz (R-FL) had voted for former President Donald Trump on the prior two rounds. Hern continues to vote for McCarthy.

The new Rules package seems to be being worked out. Then the 20 need to get to yes if that happens.
They're trying to jam the establishment candidate down our conservative throats.
How is that not an insurrection and against the will of the conservative voters who gave Republicans charge of the House?
The thing that’s confusing this is that Trump is supporting McCarthy.
My personal feeling is that the holdouts should get committee power, change that voting rule back to 1 vote (it was changed to 5 by Nancy, who wanted to make it difficult to oppose her), and then vote for McCarthy.
But Trump shouldn’t have supported him in the first place, and that is what has confused this. Of course, Trump also supported McConnell, who got judges through but was a complete traitor to the GOP and is now swanning around with his new BFF, Biden.
What do you have against putz's that you'd compare McCarthy to them?
He is Pelosi all over again. Just with a R California name. A big thanks to the R’s that are holding some line.

Yep, that along with the previous concessions, and we move on.
Very few patriots left in government. A handful maybe in the Senate, these 20 in the House, and precious few in the courts. The nation is on life support.

After the first couple of failures, you’d think they would’ve stopped the voting and retired to a back chamber until they got something hammered out.
So now they’re just throwing spaghetti up on the wall hoping something will stick.

That's sure what it appears to be anyway. Any other explanation doesn't make sense, IMO.
BS....20 hardheads have to vote for McCarthy. There is no damn alternative....and they know it.
Jim Jordan is not only supporting him but nominated him.
MCCarthy should have made these deals before. He is not a leader.
