If the Dem machine in CA can keep a prominent Hispanic off the ballot for Senator, and if Feinstein finally retires, then Schiff would probably win. I moved out of CA going on six years ago so am no longer familiar with who the power brokers are there other than Newsom.
The Dems have enjoyed playing the demographics-is-destiny game, but that is going to bite them in the butt big time soon. Hispanics have grown to the largest percentage of the state's population at 39%. Only 5% are black. It's becoming harder for anyone other than Hispanics to win many elections in CA.
Schiff should be on the Artic and Antarctic cold observant subcommittee with long stretches assigned to each.
