Former President Donald Trump posed for a photo at his South Florida resort with convicted Philadelphia mobster Joseph “Skinny Joey” Merlino, according to a report Monday.
Trump, 76, is flanked by Merlino and his friend in the photo, which was taken earlier this month at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach and obtained by the Philadelphia Inquirer.
The trio, wearing golf outfits, flash Trump’s customary thumbs-up sign in the pic.
Trump is wearing a red “Make America Great Again” hat, while Merlino’s friend has a red “Keep America Great” ball cap.

A dumb move, but a very minor one. And it’s quite possible Trump did not even know who the guy was.

You are prolly correct. Trump loves getting photos taken with his supporters, and others who come off as decent and grinning. He’s a people person.

The problem in this stunt, Trump self-created an anti-Trump propaganda pic that low-info voters will fall for.
Imagine trying to persuade a low-info voter to vote for Trump and then he\she brings this up! Remember their vote counts as one vote just like yours! Getting those votes just got harder!

Yep. Someone dropped the ball here. Either Trump didn’t have anyone vetting his guests, or he did and that person was asleep at the switch.
By the way, out of curiosity I looked it up. The article says that Merlino is an ex-mob boss. But the FBI thinks he’s still running Philadelphia. Regardless, Merlino is (was?) a violent individual.
