The killers and victims are not technically linked. But ONE elderly (both over 65) Asian mass murderer is unusual. TWO elderly Asian mass murderers in as many days is positively bizarre.

When I lived in the ROC, the police would send out two heavily armed platoons that would hit various gang establishments. It was wild to watch. One time I was in club that quickly cleared out (I unfortunately didn't notice this). The next thing a gang member stood on top of a table and yelled something. The gang destroyed the place around me. Glass was flying everywhere.
I guess it just kind of annoyed me reading and re-reading the article thinking there was some link between the two and finally realizing there was no connection.
I mean, yes, it is bizarre but I could make that connection on my own, or the author of the article might make mention of it IN the article but the title? No.
