This was my thought: Pence was disclosing this to help out Biden (the "everybody does it argument"), not necessarily to help Trump.

I know. It occurred to me also but I don’t believe Mike Pence would keep quiet if he was aware of “planted” evidence. I think he is a very honest person who has no guile, no ulterior motive.
