My neighbor has a restored 71 Ford Bronco, awesome vehicle, fun to ride around in.

I saw one of the pretend Bronco EVs yesterday. Pathetic, looks like a European econobox. Wouldn’t be caught dead riding in one.

I’m with you. I’ve been saying for awhile that I believe it will be an epic fail.

The EV vs. Steam vs. ICE war was fought over 100 years ago. ICE won.

I’ve only seen a few of them out there. Why in the world would they even call it a Mustang? It’s not a “pony car” by any means. It’s a small SUV.

“The move indicates that automakers are aggressively courting consumers as EVs gain traction in the U.S.”

ROTFLOL!

auto makers generally slash prices when a model isn’t selling well ...

EVs would make a great 2nd or 3rd car for running around town or commuting, especially if your employer has free charging. But charging, range and price will relegate them to 2nd car status for most families until those problems are solved.

slashing prices is not usually a sign of increased demand

In the past 5 years, most manufacturers have jumped in with EV models that directly compete with each other. Hyundai, Kia, Volkswagon, Nissan, Ford, Toyota and Chevy have all jumped into the same competitive group. Not to mention Audi, Mercedes, Lexus, BMW, Volvo, etc jumping in at the higher end. It was bound to be disruptive. Those companies that sat on the sideline waiting to see how things shake out might be the smartest - Honda, Mazda, Subaru, Dodge, etc.

That’s okay, folks are still lining up to pay 100k plus for a pickup truck that can’t tow, or haul anything of consequence a couple of dozen miles.

It’s a fine solution for a limited use case.

Commuter/Fleet vehicle where range isn’t a major issue.

Buying a limited use case vehicle for a general use case need is stupid.

Which is why this limits it largely to the affluent to have a second or third vehicle.

Most of my driving (and most of most peoples driving) is commuter based, no lie around that, but I also can drive up to 2000 miles plus during a vacation every year.

Sure I could buy an EV, and rent a gas vehicle for those two weeks, but it would be more expensive for me to do that.

When I buy my next vehicle, which is coming up, EV’s aren’t even on my radar.. I will buy an ICE vehicle, possibly a hybrid if I find one at a price I like, but not a chance in ever loving hell will I be purchasing an EV.

I need to know if I need to get to California from PA for whatever reason I will spend the time actually driving and not charging

We just had a cold snap up here in the PNW. It was so cold my batteries couldn’t take a charge and BARELY just warm enough to let them discharge. It is bright and sunny but still can’t charge Lithium batteries when it is this cold. I am not looking forward to the days we are forced to drive these crap vehicles. And heating them, even just for defrost. Won’t that be fun?

<>That allowed certain Tesla models to get under the new EV tax credit’s price threshold.<>

But at least ICE vehicle owners and working schlubs subsidize these playthings of the wealthy.
