EV price war underway as Ford slashes electric Mustang prices

Ford Motor Co. will slash the price of its top electric vehicle, the Mustang Mach-E, after Tesla announced a series of major price cuts earlier this month.

Ford on Monday announced price cuts ranging from $600 to $5,900 on certain Mach-E models. The American automaker added that it will “significantly” increase production of the electric SUV to reduce customer wait times and boost its market share.

“We are not going to cede ground to anyone. We are producing more EVs to reduce customer wait times, offering competitive pricing and working to create an ownership experience that is second to none,” Marin Gjaja, Ford’s chief customer officer for EVs, said in a statement.

Ford’s price drop comes just a few weeks after Tesla, the EV market leader, slashed the price of some of its vehicles by up to 20 percent. That allowed certain Tesla models to get under the new EV tax credit’s price threshold.

The move indicates that automakers are aggressively courting consumers as EVs gain traction in the U.S.

gaining traction?

slashing prices is not usually a sign of increased demand

A very normal thing to do when supply exceeds demand . . .

“The move indicates that automakers are aggressively courting consumers as EVs gain traction in the U.S.“

That is the kind of BS you can Always get from the little rats at The Hill. You don’t drop prices if demand is high a-holes.

“Within 7yrs, there’ll be millions of unsold EVs, sitting in fields, and the world’s mfgrs’ production plants will be empty, after spending TRILLIONS on this idiotic EV crap.” (CH’s post on previous FR thread).

During our last visit to China, to see my wife’s family in Beijing, we saw a huge, giant, mammoth EV graveyard. This place was south of downtown and covered about 20+ acres.

There was a road going through it that we walked on. There were hundreds of electric busses in rows of one after another. There were charging stations stacked up in piles about 20’ high. There were electric scooters and cars stacked up in piles as well. None of it looked very old. CH, you predicted this years ago, and we saw it, firsthand!

The novelty is wearing off as people are realizing the risks associated with following this particular "fad." Maybe we'll all admit that the end game of the social architects demanding "Green" aren't interested in EVs, at all.

Their end game is for us to not travel. Period. You will all (I say "you", because I'll have passed off this mortal coil by then) be living in micro houses, eating bugs, and having your essential shopping within walking distance.

And you'll take it. Because you've taken everything else. Otherwise, you would have stormed the Bastille by now.

What is the demand ?

I hear of people waiting for Teslas, but also cancellations because they can’t be supplied in a timely fashion. Delays reportedly due to unavailability of materials.

I hope people are learning of the short-comings of EVs which are suited for a very small slice of the driving public, imho.

I would wonder if the Gov EVs subsidies are dropping off?

Would be interesting if the pricing falls by the exact number of the gov kick backs..

It may not be too long until the price of a Ford EV is less expensive than a Mo-Ped!

That is a cool kids car. An average toddler would go nuts for one like that.

My neighbor has a restored 71 Ford Bronco, awesome vehicle, fun to ride around in.

I saw one of the pretend Bronco EVs yesterday. Pathetic, looks like a European econobox. Wouldn’t be caught dead riding in one.
