I grew up in Florida in the 60’s and 70’s.
Even back then, it had a unique culture of being the state that everybody fled to for better government, and therefore, a better place to raise kids.
And the funny thing is, all the kids from up North missed the snow and the big city action. They thought Florida was a bore. They hated all the retired old geezers in their condo communities.....”This place is nothing but wall to wall shuffle board courts” is what I always used to hear. But the parents loved it.
