Kingsburg, about five miles north of Selma, was once a mostly Swedish town and still has a Swedish veneer, although most of the Swedes have apparently moved on.

Many Armenians used to live in the area. An Armenian woman that I knew, who passed away recently, grew up in Selma in the middle of the last century.

That’s they way VDH describes the history of the area.

A lot of CA areas had real estate covenants prohibiting sale to Armenians, which is why a bunch settled in the area of Selma.
