Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis recently praised a lawyer suing one of former President Donald Trump's biggest allies.
On Tuesday morning, DeSantis held a roundtable discussion to discuss defamation and featured attorney Libby Locke, who is currently representing Dominion Voting Systems in their lawsuit against MyPillow CEO and Trump ally, Mike Lindell.
"Also joining us here today is Libby Locke, she is a partner at ClareLocke LLP and is an extraordinaire when it comes to First Amendment defamation," DeSantis said as he introduced Locke in the roundtable discussion.
The comments by DeSantis about Locke come as he has continued to face criticism from Trump amid rumors that the Florida governor could run for president in 2024 and become a Republican opponent against the former president.

Following DeSantis's comments about Locke, MyPillow CEO and prominent ally of Trump, Lindell, responded on Twitter.
"DeSantis hosting Dominion lawyer Libby Locke! He is showing his true colors!" Lindell wrote.
A number of other Conservative Twitter users also chimed in on DeSantis's roundtable discussion.
Kurt Jantz, wrote "Why Is DeSantis Rubbing Elbows With Libby Locke.. She (is) A Lawyer That Represented The Dominion Voting Machines Against Mike Lindell & Many More Conservatives."

For me, the jury’s still out of RDS but the more I hear about him, the less I like.
A quick search I just did indicates she has also served as a lawyer for Sarah Palin and Project Veritas, so maybe they are just going where the money is in this case, apparently towards Domininon winning their case?
I wouldn’t be defending Dominion, for sure, but what is the evidence against them?
Has Trump put forth anything, at all?
Why would a Governor want to discuss defamation issues? Aren’t those civil lawsuits. not criminal charges?
I know that the corporate media want to divide conservatives into to camps so as to hurt the chances of both Trump and DeSantis. They love creating problems for the GOP and especially true conservatives. It would have been best if Trump and DeSantis had come together as joint forces against the left, but I’m sure GOP consultants told DeSantis to avoid Trump as he is “toxic” and “divisive”. And there is no telling what they are telling Trump about DeSantis. Therefore, for now I’m just going to ignore their noise.
Probably for the best. Wake me in 2024.

He’s talking about changing the laws in Florida to make it easier to sue the media for defamation apparently. Of course, that’s a job for the legislature not the Governor, I believe.

Same here, but I am ahead of you because some longtime FR members in FL and some close contacts of mine there gave me the inside story.
I had liked the “story” of DeSantis up until my eyes were opened.
But even as my eyes were being opened, he sounded and still sounds good with his conservative soundbites. He fooled me.
What people don’t see is the collective efforts of countless Floridians who have been canvasing the 2020 and 2022 elections there to get the proof of what is really happening with the election system in Florida

Lindell can sound nuts to people that are pulled into the DeSantis orbit by the allure of his soundbites, But Mike is right, his people have got the truth and Mike is courageous enough to get it out. But it’s tough because people want so bad to believe in a popular scripted story.
But the real disturbing fact is that people go on about their lives as if the 2020 election steal never happened. They think their vote matters. In some places out in the rural and sparsely populated areas, voting is counted legitimately because their votes are not a threat. But in large urban zones, that’s where the election cheating takes place.

This may very well be a deal breaker for any MAGA support of DeSantis for president.

Kamala has enjoined one of the legal defenses from the Dominion lawsuits? No?
What about Trump? I was so sure he would, back when he collected $250M for an "election defense fund" but I haven't seen where he's defended anything, actually.
Trump hasn't enjoined a single Dominion lawsuit, that I know of, and there are several. Do you know why that might be? He should have the money from his election defense fund. Thanks.
