This warped thinking is either A: to increase employment for armed guards or B: to break the middle class. It’ll accomplish both for a little while. Then it’ll be on to C: move away.

We have long passed the point where that notion can be assumed to be true.
Who votes and how they vote does not matter. Who counts the votes is what matters.
We get the government that we tolerate.
