I’ve a dryer that quit drying. turns out a safety(?) thermo switch went bad. RePlaced for about $10.
A few years later, it did the same. This time I ordered TWO of them switches. (Now it’ll NEVER break again!)

Oh, there are two-three-maybe four of those switches connected in series; like old Christmas tree lights; so you have to check ALL of them to see which one in the link failed.

Nice! I like antiques, and wouldn't mind restoring one of those. I have some antique carpentry tools that belonged to my grandpa from the 1940s, and a Craftsman saw table from the early 1950s that was my dad's. My wife doesn't like me collecting old stuff, an old washer would be too much for her to allow. She limits me to keeping my old cars from the 1960s. Old stuff had fewer restrictions and was tougher, and life was simpler.
Old washing machine was outside the back of the house under some stairs, and mom carried the wet clothes up the outside stairs to hang on a clothesline and pulley that ran from out a kitchen window to a pole at the far end of the deep back yard. If the wind blew some off the line, I'd pick them up to be washed again. Next to that kitchen window was a cooler box at another window, wrapped with burlap, and kept our canned goods cool. We had an icebox, and a delivery man would bring a block of ice to put in the top. Fond memories.
