Dems will appreciate the Associated Press for still pushing their 'Don't Say Gay' spin

There’s evidence of media bias everywhere, but in this particular case I’d like to focus on a game the press plays with the names of legislation/laws in their reporting about Republican initiatives:

"Critics call"

— JWF (@JammieWF) February 11, 2023

The biggest example of that lately has been Florida’s Parental Rights in Education Act that Gov. Ron DeSantis signed into law last year. The Left dubbed it the “Don’t Say Gay” law and the media dutifully fell in line. The Associated Press is still playing that game:

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis will soon take control of Walt Disney World's self-governing district after Senate Republicans approved a bill Friday punishing the company over its opposition to the law critics call "Don't Say Gay." https://t.co/5xn9q4OdTT

— The Associated Press (@AP) February 11, 2023

The Democrats will award the AP ten social credit points for that.

Why not say the name of the actual law instead of spreading false, left-wing talking points???

— Abigail Marone 🇺🇸 (@abigailmarone) February 11, 2023

What’s the name of the bill? I can’t find a bill that contains the phrase “don’t say gay”. Or at least point me to a news organization capable of sharing facts.

— Vanessa Atalanta Wisedog (@Wisedog4) February 11, 2023

What law in Florida says that?

— Jeremy Redfern (@JeremyRedfernFL) February 11, 2023

The name of the bill is The Parental Rights in Education Act, and it has nothing to do with “don’t say gay.” 🙄🙄🙄🙄 https://t.co/JyPWOTRKm7

— Kathleen McKinley (@KatMcKinley) February 11, 2023

The AP used “Don’t Say Gay” in the headline and at least twice in the story:

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis will soon take control of Walt Disney World’s self-governing district after Senate Republicans approved a bill Friday punishing the company over its opposition to the law critics call “Don’t Say Gay.”

The legislation, which now awaits the governor’s signature, would require DeSantis to appoint a five-member board to oversee the government services the district provides in the company’s sprawling properties in Florida. […] The Disney district takeover was initiated last year when Disney publicly opposed “Don’t Say Gay,” which bars instruction on sexual orientation and gender identity in kindergarten through third grade and lessons deemed not age-appropriate.

I couldn’t find the actual name of the law anywhere in the entire story.

Have you ever noticed that game is never played the other way around? When the Associated Press does stories about Biden going around the country touting the Inflation Reduction Act, that’s what they’ll call it — the AP story won’t read “Biden’s going around the country promoting the initiative critics call an ‘inflation-worsening wasteful spending” bill.

Hey AP, people are finally figuring out who you are. And they don't like it. Some of us have known for years; journalism is dead and gone. https://t.co/lnCtWlnYUT

— JaimeWho? (@MuskOx1953) February 11, 2023

You’ll never see the American Pravda use in quotes “ “ what Republican critics might call a Democratic bill in a byline. https://t.co/UuIJct3ftY

— Doctor of Coding Thinkology (@bradcundiff) February 11, 2023

No, you will not. And the media wonders why so many people think they’re not objective.

We get it, @AP. You are the critic and this is your position. That's why your headlines disproportionately feature critic misnomers. https://t.co/n8mcZI5WuC

— Bryan Griffin (@BryanDGriffin) February 11, 2023

The desired Democrat spin is usually so baked into the MSM’s coverage that they might not even any longer realize they’re doing it.

The board appointed by Governor DeSantis - and approved by the Florida Senate - will not take control of Disney's money, only how Disney spends its money at the Florida facility.

Sure, Disney can ask the board permission to build a commercial Satanic center at Disney World. And it may get approved after a lengthy review of the strength of the proposed rebar, and a through environmental review of the impact the proposal will have on the endangered Osceola County sand knat, and after a study on the long term effects the project will have on future educational development in middle-middle and upper-lower-middle economic communities.

Two can play this little government mandated study game.

And Disney has already gotten the message. They say the new law is fine and they look forward to working within the new legislation. What else can they say?
