Perhaps the bay area needs a blue ribbon Commission to investigate the cause of this. Also they should consider fining any company that closes a money losing enterprise.

Refusing to operate a money losing business is just greedy.

Public school flash mob smash and grab robberies just made life tougher for a lot of people. Cell phones aren’t always a good idea.

Let's see. allow thieves to get off free as long as they steal less than $950 at one time. Charge business owners who try to keep bums off their property with assault, and then act surprised when businesses leave and complain about "food deserts", and now no doubt "pharmacy deserts." Meanwhile coddle criminals and illegal aliens and raise the taxes on the hones hardworking to pay for the indolent to sit o their backsides all day.

What a great formula for a success. Since the parasites outnumber the productive, and the parasite votes count the same as the productive members of society, ensure that there will be a parasite loving self congratulatory government to screw the honest and reward the criminals in perpetuity.

As a Bay Area resident, I’m the first to knock local politicians and D.A.s for coddling criminals and making the region a terrible place to do business. With that said, it’s a bit cheesy of Walgreen’s to purchase a small local competitor and then within a few months shut down all 7 of the former competitors’ stores. I’m reminded by an analogous situation a number of years ago in which there was a local bakery chain called La Boulange that was selling coffee and pastries. Their stores were scattered around the various upscale neighborhoods that also typically contained a Starbucks. Anyhow, Starbucks bought out the La Boulange chain... and then proceeded to shutter all of their stores, thereby eliminating an up-and-coming competitor.

That’s antitrust, right there and the stock holders should be pissed because the purchase served no accretive value.

The fascists will force any pharmacy that desires to do business in the state of California to operate a minimum number of business locations in the high crime pharmacy deserts.

Once that is unsuccessful, California will declare a health emergency and receive federal funds to operate state owned and operated pharmacies with the usual Democrat donating union employees.

........I never needed a pharmacy much until I hit the sixties. Closing these pharmacies will fall hardest on the old folks.

That said, this just proves again that Liberals can destroy an anvil with a rubber hammer.

It also proves that “self governance” is lost when Liberals gain too much voting strength as they self destruct.

They got tired of mopping up the poop tracked into their pharmacies.

These pharmacies are not profitable without the front end sales of non pharmaceuticals. If a person can go in and steal with impunity, they do. The store becomes unprofitable and it closes.
