Out of curiosity I looked it up. In the last reliable census (2001), Bakhmut was roughly 69% ethnic Ukrainian and 28% ethnic Russian. So I fail to see how this Russian move is a “liberation”. Sounds more like an occupation to me.
Kinda like how Germany “liberated” Warsaw in 1939.
Mr. Prestov is a fundamentalist ultra pro-neo-soviet-fanatic supporting the Kremlin deep-state up to 101%. Yes, he is very enthusiastic - it’s not easy to break the 100% limit... :)

There is nothing left to occupy. This is just more scorched earth destruction in the finest Russian Nazi themed traditions.
