“...... it’s more than likely that we may not have a viable country by then. Just my opinion”.

I believe the same way. At this rate, we’ll not have a viable country by 2024. No country could survive the 24/7 abuse from every angle that the US is undergoing.

He can’t stay governor. There are term limits.

This is a funny comment coming from her. Why didn’t she stay governor? Why did she start endorsing democrats?

DeSantis is term limited. He won’t be anything in 2028. That doesn’t mean he will run in 2024. But the Democrats, RINOs and Trump will probably wreck him by then.

Sara Quitter should just keep her trap shut.

The last thing I need is to hear from that self-severing carpetbagger.

Why did Palin resign as Governor of Alaska? Serious question. It has been alleged she was effectively intimidated by threats to the life of family members. As in ‘you all can’t hide forever and we will be watching even your MR son.’

Everyone that agrees is just gung ho for Trump in 2024 and desperately wants his most viable primary competition to not run. Anything said beyond that is disingenuous.

The Democrats pulled the coronation stunt in 2016 and cleared the field for Madam President save for kooky Bernie. If Trump, DeSantis or anyone else wants the nomination next year, he or she should have to earn it, not just be handed it on a silver platter.

“ But the Democrats, RINOs and Trump will probably wreck him by then.”

Trump will not wreck him unless the over ambitious young politician throws himself in front of Trump.

I will summarize my thoughts from previous strategic scenario posts:

  1. DeSantis can't be looking to a presidential run in 2024, he's going to have too much of a target on his back to take him out before then. DeSantis needs to be a Florida Governor first, a Trump supporter second to deliver Florida to Trump, and then a future presidential candidate third.

DeSantis should be looking to 2028, meaning he should be looking for a position in the Trump administration for 2026 (or sooner), perhaps as President Trump's Attorney General.

  2. President Trump should run with Texas Governor Greg Abbott in 2024, leaving Lt. Governor Dan Patrick to fill out the remainder of his term.

Sure, Abbott won't be needed to bring Texas, but he is already strong on border issues with trying to have Texas build its own wall, and for changing the immigration narrative by sending illegal aliens to New York City and Washington, DC.

Abbott might bring more Hispanic voters to Trump. He's also disabled, so he might bring Americans with disabilities, too. He would look good sitting in his wheelchair at typical at campaign stops and future ceremonial VP events, showing that even disabled people can rise to the highest levels of government.

  3. When President Trump wins in 2024, he should nominate someone to hold the Attorney General seat for two years until DeSantis is ready to move over. That person could be Texas Senator Ted Cruz. Cruz would be a strong, assertive AG, giving him some executive branch leadership experience. Then he can run for Governor of Texas in 2026 to vacate the Cabinet position for DeSantis. Cruz as governor of Texas would be a strong move to hold off a blue encroachment within the state.

Cruz would be up for reelection in 2024 anyway, but if he runs again and wins (like Senator Joe Lieberman did in 2000), Patrick would appoint his replacement for two years if he moves to AG in the Trump administration.

  4. Let DeSantis finish his second term as Governor of Florida and then become Trump's AG in 2026. Then, DeSantis can run for President in 2028. He can leverage the Attorney General position to refine his own DC political machine as the foundation for his presidential run in 2028 so he doesn't come in cold like Obama and Trump did.

Exactly, that is what many people forget. DeSantis is term limited and can’t just stay in Florida.

He is doing such an amazing job there, there is a part of my that also would like him to stay there, but then I remember about the term limits and think.. this is his time. If Trump were not running after having lost, this would be his time.

There is no one who is going to defeat Trump in the primary, and anyone who tries can be assumed to be a deep state RINO.

If Trump couldn’t win in 2020 when ALL of us were onboard, just how is it gonna happen in 2024?

She's absolutely correct. A lot of the people urging DeSantis to run against Trump do not have DeSantis' best interests at heart.

Right now, DeSantis does not have the trust of working class voters in the Midwest and Northeast which Trump has. These people likely would not show up for him and he would lose as a result. In addition to that, if he were to run against Trump and actually win, many in the MAGA movement would never forgive him. The Democrats would love that. They'd get rid of both Trump and DeSantis in one blow.

BY A MILE, the best thing that could happen would be for DeSantis to be Trump's VP....or at least remain as Governor and get Trump's endorsement. That way he would inherit the MAGA movement and might have a shot with working class voters Trump appeals to. 2024 is not his time - 2028 is.
