The toxins seep into the ground water and then into the drinking water - likely take 50-100 years before the chemicals fully dissipate and the water is actually safe to drink again.

Any municipal water agency would already have been testing before this incident, and East Palestine of course will step up the test frequency for the spilled chemicals. If found, the water will be treated by oxygenation and/or activated charcoal filtration. IF any shows up. As of now there is no contamination of East Palestine's wells, and depending on the groundwater migration pattern there may never be any in 100 years.

Trying to turn this into an American Fukushima is moronic. Leave the engineers alone and they will solve the problems.
