Cash is not necessarily all that private anymore either.
Do not be surprised if the ATM records the serial numbers of the 20’s it dispenses (there’s a little magnetic stripe in the bills for just that purpose), and that banks record the serial numbers of what certain businesses deposit, so that cross matching can occur.
