“I told her it wasn’t an EV and EV’s are supposedly the only ones that catch on fire.”
Yes, every thread like this gets a lot people who don’t have the common sense to understand that gasoline is flammable.

When I was in second grade, we had a visit by the fire department. The fireman put a cigarette out in a bucket of gas. It’s the vapor that is flammable.
In a way I agree with most FReepers on this even though my wife and I own an EV. I think it shouldn't be forced onto us. It should be a free market decision. In fact, I wouldn't own an EV if the Dims weren't hell bent on making gasoline cost too much and every now and then hard to come by.
By owning both an EV and an ICE pickup we have the best of both worlds. Both in enjoyment (driving an EV is fun) and in utility (ICE pickup). Plus it gives us diversification on energy dependencies. If the Dims make gas too expensive (IMHO it still is) and/or hard to come by, we can rely on the EV. If the Dims make power too expensive and/or hard to come by, we can rely on the ICE pickup. By having one of each (since we need 2 cars anyway) we don't have all of our transportation eggs in one energy basket.
*Gasoline fumes.
Remember, NBC needed model rockets to get side-saddle gasoline tanks on pickups to catch fire...and even then it didn’t always work...
...because the brain-trust at NBC filled those tanks completely instead of leaving them practically empty.
Or did I just demonstrate my age?
