Maybe the Workplace Needs Political Neutrality: Companies taking public political stands has not exactly been a bonanza for employee morale

As I perused a list of rules the British Royal Family must follow, one rule in particular jumped out at me. The Royals cannot express any political opinions. They cannot vote. They can't even speak publicly about politics or run for political office of any kind.

With companies around the country increasingly perpetuating political stances, I thought of how appropriate it would be for companies to take a similar stance to the Royals, by not taking political sides.

A political side we see being heavily pushed at companies is neither Democrat nor Republican, but rather Marxist. The teachings by Frankfurt School academics have evolved into Critical Race Theory, intersectionality, cultural appropriation, and a variety of other academic theories. These theories are disseminated through what you may be more familiar with in the workplace as Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity (DIE).

The Frankfurt School was founded in 1932 as a philosophical and sociological movement with the aim of developing Marxist studies in Germany. After the Nazi takeover in 1933, the Frankfurt School relocated to Columbia University in New York City. The main focus of the Frankfurt School has been Critical Theory, which is primarily focused on critiquing modernity and capitalist society. Failing to attract converts to communism due to capitalism's abundant material wealth, they instead focused on the cultural Marxism of Critical Theory, with the intent of perpetuating populace discontent.

Critical Theory divides people via race, sex, and class, with individuals falling into either oppressed or oppressor roles. The many academics who were disciples of the Frankfurt School expanded on these theories in the 1960s and 1970s, putting them into action starting in the 1980s.

To be clear, the implementation of DIE being pushed at broker dealers and the workplace in general is a political stance (progressive leftism).

A company is certainly free to impose these theories on employees but should realize there are repercussions to taking sides.

I work for a subsidiary of a decent sized multinational chemical company. I’ve met the parent company CEO a couple times. He’s very politically conservative and runs the company that way.

In 15 years, the only thing I’ve ever seen or heard that can be remotely political is a letter he sent telling us that Obamacare would not be in our best interest as employees.

He’s closely related to a US Senator, yet there’s never been a word about that.

Complete Switzerland neutrality. Just as it ought to be.

And I’m willing to wager your chemical company is doing well business wise. Is it public? ( listed in the stock exchanges ).

A business that takes sides on political matters will end up losing customers.

Makes no sense to me whatsoever. Why would you want to alienate a portion of your customer base by taking political sides?

But by being the arbiters of what is “Controversial”, the Left forced companies into wokeness, because companies don’t want controversy.

And so they will tell you that supporting Black Lives Matter is “politically neutral”.

Same with my community college.

This week has been really disheartening. I find my Indian boss’ door plastered with a poster of “I celebrate black history month” - with the fist of peace.

Then notes reminding us we have to take so much “training” - which I’ve already vowed not to take since so much of it is garbage PC woke junk, which has nothing to do with what we work at, anyway. Next week - “cultural humility”. Absolutely not.

I need to start composing a letter or something of how this is a hostile work environment. A phrase they invented.

There is this toy store - TOY STORE! - locally that has a BLACK LIVES MATTER yard sign outside the door on the street. It is there all the time, night and day on the sidewalk.

I noticed this store last year and was excited maybe we’d have a local place to support that deals with toys, as we have some children we can indulge sometimes. But then almost as soon as I discovered it that night I was getting gas, I saw the BLM sign. Screw them.
