The US Government has told i that it is “deeply concerned” by reports of a Kremlin-backed coup to overthrow the Government of Moldova.
The message from Washington comes as fears grow that Vladimir Putin is plotting to take the capital city and use its airport to open a western front the war in Ukraine.
“The United States firmly supports Moldova’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” a US State Department spokesperson told i.
“We are deeply concerned by reports of a plot by Russia to destabilise Moldova’s democratically elected government. Russia has a long history of malign influence, both in Moldova and the region and we have worked closely with Moldova to build its political resilience and counter longer-term efforts by Russia to undermine Moldova’s democratic institutions.”
Tensions in the Moldovan capital of Chisinau are mounting after Putin revoked on a 2012 decree that underpinned the nation’s sovereignty on Tuesday.

The Russians are lying, as usual, and trying to establish a pretext for another invasion of a sovereign country.
Maybe Biden should visit the capital of Moldova, and drop $500 million there. That might help.

Please have a fake air raid alert ready for Mr. Biden’s visit. He likes fake air raids. Oh, and keep young girls far away from him. Trust me on that.

Yeah, because that worked out so well for the Russians at Hostomel (Antonov) Airport. That was a disaster for the Russian army.
That, I think, is why Putin is not "plotting" it. Even now, Moldova is being boosted by the West.
I'd prefer non-involvement on our part, Moldova is NOT part of NATO... But I think the West would respond if this happens. Then, the balloons goes up...
The US Army is flying a C-12-U-3 over Eastern Romania, not far from the Balck Sea and Southern Moldova right now.
