Jeez..

No one mentions the pine needle on the obverse. It represents Maine, which was part of Mass.

You are correct. When I was in elementary school in Chatham, Massachusetts in the 1950’s we learned that there are two sides to the state flag and that these sides were different. Good luck trying to find one of those flags or even a description of the older version.
