As per Fish and Wildlife site:

Bald eagles staged a remarkable population rebound and recovered to the point that they no longer needed the protection of the Endangered Species Act. On June 28, 2007, we announced the recovery of our nation’s symbol and removal from the list of threatened and endangered species.

I believe the fine is the same as a wood duck out of season or a damn Bluejay.

Pathetic.

Here in Alabama Bald Eagles are nesting in all 67 counties. They are not endangered.

Bald Eagles are still a protected species-just not an endangered one-don’t know about Nebraska, but in Texas that fine for killing a protected animal can go up to $2000-plus 180 days in jail-a bit higher than a Bluejay or Wood duck-but lower than for a black bear-also protected in this state...

A stay of 180 days in jail and a call to la migra would do nicely for those mojados...
