Another good one, if you can find it, is “A Texan Looks at Lyndon,” by J. Everts Haley. Out of print, but still seen now and then in used-book stores.
As a kid, I remember seeing that book on our bookshelf. We had the paperback edition. I’m sure my Dad bought it back in the day.
I dont remember what became of the book. But now I need to get it. I just checked and it’s selling on ebay for anywhere from $10 to $20.
