A federal judge in Florida has shut down President Joe Biden’s catch-and-release rules — and his quasi-legal “parole pathway.”
“For the most part, the Court finds in favor of Florida because, as detailed below, the evidence establishes that [Biden’s deputies] have effectively turned the Southwest Border into a meaningless line in the sand,” district court Judge T. Ken Wethererell, a Donald Trump appointee, wrote.
The judge wrote that Biden and his deputies have converted Americans’ border:
…[into] little more than a speedbump for aliens flooding into the country by prioritizing “alternatives to detention” [ATD] over actual detention and by releasing more than a million aliens into the country—on “parole” or pursuant to the exercise of “prosecutorial discretion” under a wholly inapplicable statute—without even initiating removal proceedings.
The judge delayed his decision for seven days, pending a Biden appeal to preserve the unpopular policy.
The decision is a big win for Florida’s Gov. Ron DeSantis and Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody, who argued that Biden’s catch-and-release policy violates federal law and imposes economic burdens on the state.

But will it matter?
The damage has already been done.
“The judge delayed his decision for seven days, pending a Biden appeal to preserve the unpopular policy.”
This is why we lose. A leftist judge would have just ordered them to dismantle the program immediately and let them scramble to try and find a judge to postpone the order.
Great news! I never did understand the policy of catching criminals, only to release them and trust that they will show up to their trials.
I think you meant to say "I have no clue how to fix it, so nobody else does either". That is incorrect.
>This is why we lose. A leftist judge would have just ordered them to dismantle the program immediately and let them scramble to try and find a judge to postpone the order.<
I believe it to be the opposite of that. Without the seven day period, the left would easily find a commie judge to enjoin the ruling putting Florida back on offense.
This way the left has to initiate the appeal to a higher court. That could take much longer to reach a conclusion.
It’s like having an arbiration clause in a contract prior to court action.
EC
Now appoint a special master to oversee the department and enforce compliance.
He is merely following the rules of procedure that are mandated by the circuit courts on district court judges.
Isn’t it fun when we swing back? Thanks for pointing out link.
Folks,
There is no perfect plan here. We can clearly state what we don’t want, but that never leads to solutions either. Most discussion about immigration is what we don’t want.
I just want to point out there are some pros regarding “catch and release”.
How do we know who is a good candidate for American Citizenship?
A strict detailed process under political authority doesn’t do a good job because of graft. A lottery doesn’t do it. You can’t document their history and applications are worth less.
Sometimes the best way is to test them. If they stay under the radar, that is a good sign. If they show up again under criminal law, deport them.
I have met some illegal who have been very good citizens, responsible. hard working and independent, not trusting of govt. They would not have made it here any other way.
All Trump ever wanted was a good discussion of the immigration process, laws passed to guide the executive branch. Get past the indirect everchanging executive orders.
Funny how the leftist judges seem to disregard those rules with impunity.
Trump said he will toss out millions of illegals when he is back in the WH. That’s the only thing that will curb the damage.
I can sum it up without reading it: Brandon, you’re a f#$#ing traitor.
