Putin Now Concerned About His Own Safety, Former Ambassador John Sullivan Says
Newsweek ^ | 3/11/23 | FATMA KHALED

Former U.S. ambassador to Russia John Sullivan said Friday that Russian President Vladimir Putin is concerned about his own safety as his lifestyle is being impacted by his ongoing war in Ukraine.

CNN host Erin Burnett asked Sullivan during a TV appearance on OutFront about whether he thinks the Russian leader's lifestyle has been affected by the war. She was referring to a recent report that said Putin is now living with his girlfriend at a luxury estate outside of Moscow.

Putin's reported luxurious lifestyle has been questioned by some, given the heavy sanctions that the West imposed on Russia since the beginning of the war in Ukraine last February. Some of those sanctions include a ban on Russian oil and removing Russian banks from the international financing messaging system SWIFT, according to BBC News.

Sullivan said that Putin's lifestyle has in fact been impacted by his full-scale invasion of Ukraine, which is limiting his movements for safety reasons.

A Russian investigative news website called The Project recently reported, citing unnamed officials, that Putin is living with his girlfriend, former Olympic gymnast Alina Kabaeva, in a villa at an estate he owns on Lake Valdai, which is located 400 kilometers northwest of Moscow and spans across 13,000 square feet, according to WION News. Children have also been spotted near the premises.

Putin's costly lifestyle has also been reported by Proekt, an independent Russian media group, which recently released photos of the residence's lavish interior and said that Putin used a Cypriot company as a front to finance his luxurious lifestyle, the Daily Mail reported earlier this month.

It’s hard to know what to believe in this war.

Very soon Putin will be gone from poisoning, bullets, cancer or defenestration. Or a combination of them. Putin is one Ukraine war flop from getting replaced.

Stay away from the window Vlad.

In fact, better never leave the ground floor.

He’s wrecked Russia.
Made is a Pariah state.
Cost the lives of 270,000 Russian men.
Killed off a bunch of his oligarchs.

I don’t know why he would be concerned about his safety.

Dmitry Medvedev is Putin’s #2 and when he takes over from Putin, maybe he’ll get the girl, too.

Surf around for Medvedev’s speeches. Not some reporter’s discussion of his own telepathic powers and what Medvedev thinks. Look up his speeches.

Then decide if you want him instead of Putin.

Putin doesn’t care. Putin doesn’t give a sh!t.

After all, he’s died from everything 99 times, and he still comes back.

“Very soon Putin will be gone from poisoning, bullets, cancer or defenestration. Or a combination of them. Putin is one Ukraine war flop from getting replaced”

The good thing about Putin being gone is that his replacement will quickly end the Ukraine War.

The bad thing is that we likely won’t be around to know it.

Medvedev probably couldn’t stay sober long enough to take over

somebody else will replace Putin ... hopefully someone smarter and not obsessed with re-creating the 1700s

I’ve read that the Russian economy is good. That grocery store shelves are loaded. Kind of like how it used to be here in the states!

After we’ve spent over $150 billion (publicly admitted), sent millions of surplus weaponry and other advanced weaponry, and over 250,000 Ukrainian dead yet Russia is still cranking away against the entire West. I’m more worried about our ineffectual military and doctrine than I am Russia’s.

One thing you can believe is it this guy started his career under GHW Bush, clerked for Souter, his star rose more during the Bush2 administration. And when Biden came into office, he was one of the few people that appointed by Trump that Biden decided to keep on permanently.. He’s swamp.

If Putin is at risk it has nothing to do with this war.
