Right, wrong or indifferent it doesn’t matter. The situation the Russians are in is exactly as I described. It was an unsustainable position. I despise war, especially unnecessary war but if I were a Russian I’d support Putin’s action here. I would have have demanded it as would you. All of these new NATO states are virulently anti Russian. They had a Soviet boot on their throat only 30 years ago. Putin knows that, Putin was part of that. You don’t think they take NATO regime change threats seriously? Russia keeps control of the four oblasts and Crimea and Ukraine remains only an unofficial member of NATO or they will retaliate in such a way as the very next escalation crosses the nuclear threshold. Either side is fully capable of being the one. For what? WWIII for a centuries old local blood feud, no, WWIII over checkmate of woke western globalism.

The actual situation did not warrant this invasion.

The Ukraine wasn’t a threat to Russia. Its leader had not
been making threats against Russia. Nobody has made the
case for that being true. Troops were not massing on
the border before Russia swarmed it.

Russia entered the Ukraine and around a week later was
seven miles from KIYV. How does that back up the idea
they were a threat to Russia?

Even before attrition settled in, the Ukraine was no
match for Russia. The toll on Russia has been more
elevated than the Russian leadership had thought it
would be, but that’s it.

Russia occupied and has held a fair amount of territory.
How does that back up Russia’s story that the Ukraine
was a certain threat?

How much Russian territory has been taken?

Your argument that all nations who have joined NATO
had an axe to grind with Russia, is pretty much shot
down by Sweden.

Sweden remained neutral during WWII. It had pretty
much stayed out of international disputes.

If it didn’t feel safe, and not even on the border
with Russia, doesn’t that tell us anything?
