Central Florida professor fired for disputing systemic racism and White privilege fights back, files lawsuit

harles Negy, a University of Central Florida (UCF) professor at the center of a years-long saga, is fighting back after he was fired for speaking out against the notion of systemic racism and White privilege.

Negy was eventually given his job back when an arbitrator ruled he did nothing wrong, and he filed a lawsuit last week accusing the university’s board of trustees of violating the First and Fourteenth Amendments, along with negligence, abuse of process, and intentional infliction of severe emotional distress.

"In terms of the pure mistreatment of a faculty member by a university, this is one of the worst cases I have seen. And, you know, not only because he was punished in retaliation for his protected tweets, but also because when they decided to punish him, they decided to treat him like less than human," Negy’s attorney Samantha Harris told Fox News Digital.

The government officials who violate civil rights will continue to do it unless they are held personally, financially liable for their actions and are barred from public employment. There must be personal penalties for violating the civil rights guaranteed by the US constitution.

I’m glad I have no sentimental attachment to my alma mater.

Although, when I graduated it was called FTU and had 7,000 students. And.....amazing enough, in 1973 it had a pretty good sociology department. I got my BA in Sociology there. Of course, that explains how I got into sales after graduation LOL. I needed a job and the only other options were in the government social services system. Hell no to that.

Hostile work environment.

Use the commie bastards favorite phrases against them.

Although, this is not really a 1A issue. Government is not jailing him.

I think you are mistaken. The University of Central Florida is a government institution, through and through.

They may not be jailing him, but they clearly were punishing him, specifically for making First Amendment Protected statements on his own time, off the job.

It does say “Congress”.

So, I’m afraid the “First Amend” cries common all these years are a bit misplaced.

The principle is nice - but then, that is also what forces you to retain trannies and all that garbage. It goes both ways.

Never mind though many colleges are state institutions, or funded, they still should have a right at some point.

I think sticking to courts is the best way to go, for judgement on whether it was excessive, which he did.

The Fourteenth Amendment applies the First Amendment to state and local governments, hence it applies to state government institutions making rules and regulations.

Certainly, the courts are the proper means to redress grievances.

We need lots more of this type of law-fare. Use Alinskys rules against them.

How do you explain obscenity and pornography laws from locals?

I don't.

What point are you trying to make?

Here is a web site explanation of First and Fourteenth Amendment applying to state and local government actions.

The belief that 1A applies to ANY speech, ANYwhere, is specious.

The idea that 1A applies always in all forms at local level.

Kind of proven false by all the porn and obscenity laws that have existed forever, from older days when we were more sane and closer to knowledge of the Founders. Never mind that word “Congress”.

Of course the First Amendment does not apply to any speech at all times.

We can agree on that.
