EXCLUSIVE: Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis will headline the Heritage Foundation’s 50th leadership summit in April after skipping the annual Conservative Political Action Conference attended by former President Donald Trump earlier this month.

DeSantis, who pundits widely expect to launch a White House bid later this year but who currently remains on the 2024 sidelines, will deliver a "major policy speech" concluding Heritage’s two-day annual summit on April 21 at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland, according to a press release by Heritage.

"Conservatives are craving a bold and visionary leader who gets things done — and that’s exactly what Gov. Ron DeSantis has accomplished in Florida," Heritage President Kevin Roberts said in a statement.

Who decides what is or isn’t a “major” speech?

“He’s looking more weasely by the day.”

************

There’s some irony in a person who won’t declare that he’s running yet appearing at a leadership conference. Leadership implies an ability to be decisive. Just saying.

DeSantis is a coward. He needs to speak up against what democrats are doing to Trump through Bragg, even if Trump is competing against him.

Probably De Sanctimonious gets as many as his recent speech in New York,,,about 175

Whereas our past and future President Donald J Trump gets 10 times that in the first row.

I just finished RDS' new book.

Loved it. It's well written using everyday language, not condescending, and it a sort of hybrid between compelling political observation and comments and a revealing memoir.

I recommend all here read the book, you'll learn that he's right in line with us Conservatives here on FR.

And, he fears no political foe (does not care for deep staters, leftie "news" organizations, big biz and big tech in bed with the Dems, etc.)

I don’t really care much for Think Tanks since most of the tanks are pretty shallow, and are mostly about raising money for themselves. Can anyone give me real examples of anything that any of the multitudes of conservative Think Tanks have conserved?

Yes, DeSantis is a real conservative, something that many FReepers wish to discard too easily.

If they could actually deliver some FACTS about what is wrong with DeSantis policies, then they might score some points.

But name-calling and innuendoes is not poltical discourse. It is right out of the Alinsky playbook....and that should tell you much about those who villify DeSantis.

There are rational Trump supporters who do not engage in the childish behavior that other Trump supporters believe is a substitute for actual intelligence.

The country is being destroyed from within and the establishment GOP is still talking about “policy”.....you can’t make this sh*t up folks! I’m so glad I left the party back in Dec ‘20 after being a registered R since 1988. That party is dead to me....
