I lived in NYS at that time a couple of hrs away...never thought about going...but I didn’t get drivers license right away and my parents would have forbidden me from going.

If we all just forcibly sent just the elite to war, we’d have almost no wars.

"...the military has been making kids grow up for 100s of years,..."
I grew up in 13 weeks of one station unit training at Ft. Lost in the Woods at the age of 31. Total control and dogged all the way. Graduated with a whole different...everything. ;)
Before enlisting, I'd decided that becoming a little more like some of the men of my father's generation was a good idea. Men a little older than me had talked about growing their hair long as soon as their enlistments ended around 1970 or so. Later, I eventually realized some of the errors of my generation and wanted to do the opposite.
The hair is still short. Feels more like freedom.

“It’s interesting to me that the long hair and goofy clothes was more or less a uniform, with everything that entails.“
My mother said that back in 1969.

My deepest sympathies for your loss; my wife and I have been together for nearly 30 years now, losing her would break me in half.

“...A blessing to find true mutual love, as I know from experience. Lost my dear wife a year ago. Love from 1973 to...now”
That is great to read. I had a marriage fail and that is not the way things should be. I’ve been with my wife now for two decades. I pray my children find marriages that beat-the-odds and last till the “death of one”.

The 1973 Summer Jam at Watkins Glen — featuring the Grateful Dead and the Allman Brothers — was much bigger than Woodstock, too.

Woodstock 1969 Canned Heat Woodstock Boogie-Part The only problem with clicking on Youtube links such as yours is that you end up spending the next couple hours clicking on and listening to the additional music videos listed on the right side bar..........LOL
