ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Just years after labor activists persuaded a handful of states to raise their minimum wage to $15 per hour, workers initially thrilled with the pay bump are finding their hard-won gains erased by inflation.

New York City resident Anthony Rivera, 20, who sorts packages at a United Parcel Service facility in Brooklyn, said he had to take a second job at a grocery store after his food costs soared.

“I was sitting at $15 an hour at UPS, and when it came to paying bills and buying groceries, it was starting to become not enough,” he said. “That led me to no other option than to pick up another job.”

Because increasing minimum wage has always solved the problem the other times.

I was making about $8 an hour selling auto parts when I got a 2nd night job-—grinding & polishing cylinder chambers head chambers to increase performance-—

I was about 30 & FEMALE.

Bought my first house when I was making about $6 an hour. House payment was $1 a month more than 2nd floor unfurnished apartment.

Still have worked whatever it took to live.

ONE NEW CAR IN ENTIRE LIFE

BUT-—NO CABLE TV since 1993.

NO CELL PHONE—EVER

NO new cars—current ones have been in my possession for 36 & 41 years respectively

NO fancy clothes

No jewelry

CUT my own hair

NO manicures

NO PLAY STATION or similar

Do my OWN ranch chores. Feed animals/maintain property

CRY ME A RIVER, you snow flakes

$15 an hour in NYC isn't much.In Buffalo it's probably pretty good. In Oklahoma it's probably quite good.

If the market worked, they’d be no need for minimum wage or assistance.

AI companies are the better investment I believe. It’s going to change everything. Those fat cat actors and doctors are going to be in for a big surprise. Better start saving because your seven figure salary is going to end.

When Minimum wage was $2, one could buy car for 4k, and rented apartment for $300. Now minimum wage has hit $15 and they still can not afford them.

Wage hikes add to direct labor cost of products/services, that are borne by consumers. So more the wages rise, most costly everything becomes. Only nation that benefits due to wage rise and inflation in USA is china. Every democrat policy that impact economy directly benefits China,
